SEE BELOW FOR TINY TOY PUPPIES FEED THE GERBER CHICKEN BABYFOOD WITH WAFFLE SYRUP!
DO NOT Abruptly change what your puppy has been eating, it can cause stomach upset and diahrea. If you want to change food after the initial 2 weeks, gradually mix in the new food.
DO NOT take your puppy all around, it is young and is already stressed going into its new home with new experiences, smells and sounds, please give it plenty of rest, and make sure YOU SEE your puppy eating, DO NOT just assume the puppy is eating. Hypoglycemia is a threat to young puppies, so make sure you see your puppy eating with very small puppies missing one meal is a Big Deal! In Fact this is the most common reason toy breed puppies end up in an Vet's office for Emergency Care!
For Tiny Toy puppies I recommend feeding Gerbers Chicken baby food mixed with waffle syrup **FEED 2 teaspoons/or 2 syringes 3 times a day, for 2 weeks this provides protein and sugar. Good to prevent Hypoglycemia!! You can use a syringe less messy or a spoon. This is only necessary for very small puppies or if your NEW puppy is not wanting to eat the first day. This is in addition to leaving dry food (which they will just nibble at and water out at all times, and feeding 1 teaspoon canned food mashed up on a separate plate morning and night)
DO NOT put your puppy on ground outside where strays or other wildlife roam, they are not fully protected from disease especially PARVO until all sets of shots have been given usually by the age of 14-16 weeks.
Supplies needed:
1. NuVet Vitamins order above and I use the NuVet puppy Shampoo for puppies then their Oatmeal shampoo
2. Purina Puppy Chow chicken complete dry food, Purina Pro plan under 1 year canned and babyfood.
2. Crate to bring home in
3. Iris puppy playpen are wonderful to keep your puppy to play. Inside the playpen place the crate with door open/ pee pads, food and water bowl, and toys
4. Harness adjustable nylon since they will grow and leash.
Having a New Puppy is an exciting time but also a big Responsibility and you must care for your new puppy like a baby, they rely soley upon you!!!!
